Job summary

SwedQ AB in Stockholm is seeking an experienced Data / Software Engineer to help clients across Stockholm build modern cloud and data platforms. You’ll move between software engineering, data engineering and cloud architecture to design scalable, reliable production solutions.

You’ll work with Google Cloud services (BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL/Spanner, Vertex AI) and explore Kafka, Spark, Kubernetes and other data technologies.

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Data / Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and wants to work with modern cloud and data platforms for exciting clients across Stockholm.

We’re looking for someone who can move comfortably between software engineering, data engineering, cloud architecture and distributed systems — designing solutions that are scalable, reliable and maintainable in real production environments.

What You'll Work With

As a consultant at SwedQ, you'll work closely with engineering and product teams to design and build modern data-intensive systems. Depending on the assignment, that could mean building event-driven platforms, designing data architectures, developing backend services, improving large-scale data processing, or helping teams make better architectural decisions.

For this specific position, we are looking for someone with significant exposure to the Google Cloud platform and services such as:

• BigQuery
• Pub/Sub
• Dataflow / Apache Beam
• Dataproc / Spark
• Cloud Storage
• Cloud Run and GKE
• Cloud SQL / Spanner
• Vertex AI and the broader GCP data ecosystem

Beyond experience with individual cloud services, we value an understanding of the principles behind them and an interest in exploring different technologies and architectural approaches

That might include technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Spark, Kubernetes, Snowflake, Databticks, dbt, Airflow, terraform or equivalent services across cloud providers.

What We're Looking For

You have a strong software engineering foundation and several years of experience building production systems.

You're comfortable discussing topics such as distributed systems, scalability, event-driven architectures, batch vs. streaming, data modelling, storage technologies, APIs, observability, reliability and cloud infrastructure.

You probably have strong experience with Python, Java, Go, Kotlin, Scala or another modern engineering language, and you're comfortable working with SQL when solving data-intensive problems.

Technical ability matters, but consulting requires more than writing good code.

You'll work directly with clients, understand their problems, challenge assumptions when necessary and turn ambiguous requirements into pragmatic technical solutions.
