Viaplay Group in Stockholm is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead and evolve our data platform. You will design scalable batch and real-time pipelines on Databricks, own Unity Catalog governance, and mentor engineers to advance a data-driven culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience in a senior or lead capacity.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and PySpark.
• Solid understanding of Unity Catalog, data governance, and access control patterns.
• Deep knowledge of AWS Cloud services and infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with streaming frameworks.
• Strong programming skills in Python (Scala/Java a plus).
• Familiarity with data modeling, versioning, and orchestration tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust, scalable batch and streaming data pipelines on Databricks.
• Own and develop Unity Catalog implementation - governance, lineage, and access policies.
• Help shape long-term data platform strategy and tooling.
• Ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of data products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet business and analytics needs.
• Champion engineering best practices: clean code, testing, observability, peer reviews.
• Mentor and guide other engineers through technical leadership and knowledge sharing.
