Job summary

Databricks Inc. is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work with customers, owning architecture and delivering end-to-end data, AI and application solutions on the Databricks platform.

This hands-on, customer-facing role combines engineering excellence with business impact, embedding with client teams to ensure successful outcomes. The role requires leading design decisions, ensuring secure, scalable architectures and close collaboration with engineering, product, and customer teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data engineering, data platforms or software engineering.
• Experience with two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications that combine data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces.
• Experience with technical project delivery—managing scope, timelines and measurable outcomes.
• Documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel 20% of the time.
• Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade solutions delivering reference architectures, custom applications and data ingestion.
• Guide customers through end-to-end design, build and deployment of big data and AI apps.
• Own architecture decisions ensuring security and scalability.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure delivery meets customer needs.
• Provide feedback to product and support to enable rapid issue resolution.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver impact.
• Create accelerators, frameworks and best practices to scale impact across accounts.
