Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on a flagship data centre project in Sweden. You will own the project commercial performance, protect contractual position, and collaborate with engineering, planning and finance teams to drive value.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction Management.
• Experience as Commercial Manager or Senior Commercial in construction, engineering, data centre environments.
• Strong knowledge of contracts, governance and risk management.
• Ability to manage large-scale, complex projects from pre-construction to completion.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Financial acumen with project profitability and cash flow management.
• Experience leading commercial teams.
• Willingness to work on-site in Sweden.

Responsibilities

• Lead all commercial activities from tender evaluation through to final account settlement.
• Manage project revenue, profitability, cash flow forecasting and monthly commercial reporting.
• Provide strategic commercial leadership and governance across the project lifecycle.
• Review, negotiate and manage client contracts, ensuring risks are understood and managed.
• Lead commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
• Identify, assess and mitigate commercial, contractual and financial risks.
• Oversee profit plans, forecasts and project financial performance.
• Support project teams with commercial guidance and contractual interpretation.
• Manage and develop Quantity Surveyors and commercial team members.
• Ensure subcontract agreements and purchase orders are correctly implemented.
• Drive the resolution of commercial issues, claims and final accounts.
• Audit project processes to maximise outcomes.
• Collaborate with engineering, planning and finance to strengthen commercial awareness.
• Build strong client relationships and identify future opportunities.
• Lead lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
