Lunar in Stockholm is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Lending team and build lending products from the ground up for 1M+ users. You will own end-to-end architecture, design distributed, event-driven services, and collaborate with product, design and risk in a regulated space.

As our new Senior Backend Engineer you'll join the Lending team out of Stockholm, reporting to Kasper Ernerot, General Manager - Lending, working to build Lunar's lending products from the ground up — for over 1 million consumer users today.

We're a team of 5 engineers building a brand new product area. There's a foundation in place, but most of the big architecture decisions are still ahead of us — and the ones you make in your first months will still be load-bearing years from now. High ownership, real impact, and a team that helps each other get there.

What will you do?

• Design and build the distributed, event-driven services behind our lending or overdraft products - you'll join one of the two teams - owning them from architecture through to production.
• Take end-to-end ownership of core lending domains, making the trade-off calls on reliability, performance and speed as we scale from launch to a full product portfolio.
• Lead technical discussions on system design, and raise the bar around you through code review, mentoring and clear technical direction.
• Partner with product, design and risk to ship lending experiences customers actually feel — in a regulated space where getting it right matters.
• Explore where AI can make our lending products smarter, from decisioning to the everyday customer experience.

What are we looking for in you?

• Solid experience as a backend engineer, with a proven track record of designing and delivering complex systems at scale.
• Strong experience with event-driven architecture and distributed systems, and a clear grasp of the trade-offs that come with them.
• Experience with cloud technologies. Go is a significant advantage, though not a hard requirement — we'll help you get up to speed.
• A doer. You get things done, you work with a high degree of autonomy, and you're happy operating without a well-worn path in front of you.
• Bonus points for experience with agentic engineering or AI-driven SDLC, and especially for experience in lending, credit, or financial services — an area we're actively building out.
