Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to transform a customer’s application landscape into a modern microservices architecture on Microsoft Azure. You will design, implement, and optimize backend services, APIs, and data access across Azure, Oracle, and PostgreSQL environments.

Join cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end capabilities, collaborate with analysts, architects, and DevOps, and drive improvements through AI/LLM-assisted tooling where appropriate.

Your role

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will contribute to the digital transformation of a leading customer’s current application landscape into a modern, web-based, microservices architecture hosted on Microsoft Azure. Working in collaborative, cross-functional teams, you will translate business requirements into robust backend business logic, APIs, and services, and contribute across the delivery lifecycle—from requirements refinement and solution design through development, deployment, and continuous improvement.

• Apply a strong product mindset and system design principles to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable, secure, and business-focused backend solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend business logic, microservices, REST APIs, services, and integrations using .NET and/or Java, based on business and functional requirements.
• Contribute to modernizing the customer’s application landscape into a web-based, microservices architecture hosted on Microsoft Azure, including reliable data-access and persistence using Oracle, PL/SQL, and/or PostgreSQL.
• Support automated build, testing, deployment, and modern DevOps practices using CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Terraform, observability, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate closely with business analysts, architects, frontend and DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver end-to-end application capabilities, using AI/LLM-assisted development tools where appropriate to improve quality, reliability, and delivery efficiency.

Your profile

• 8+ years of experience in backend development, with strong hands-on expertise in at least one primary technology stack—.NET or Java—and a solid understanding of enterprise application architecture.
• Proven experience designing and developing backend business logic, REST APIs, integrations, and microservices-based solutions from business and functional requirements.
• Practical experience with relational databases such as Oracle, PL/SQL, and/or PostgreSQL, including data modelling, query development, performance optimization, and data integrity.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native development practices, with exposure to CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Terraform, automated testing, observability, monitoring, and secure coding.
• Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with business, architecture, frontend, and DevOps teams in an agile environment; knowledge of AI/LLM-assisted software development is an advantage.

Note: For this position you need to have a valid Swedish work permit and/or Swedish residency.
