Help build the energy autopilot for industries—and make European industry global winners in the new energy system.
We're looking for a Senior Automation/Control System Engineer to join our core team and drive the integration of our solution into industrial control systems. As one of our first hires, you'll take ownership of building one of the fundamental blocks of our solution that drives the product forward, working closely with the founders to solve real-world energy challenges.
This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-moving, VC-backed startup and make a significant impact on the product, culture, and business. We are now looking for exceptional talents to join our mission to make European industry global winners in the new energy system.
What we're building
Skye is building the energy autopilot for industries. Our platform enables industries to:
- Optimize electricity usage and storage in real time
- Provide balancing services like FCR and FRR
- Trade electricity across markets with full automation
Our system takes decisions based on data like electricity market price forecasts and industries' operational constraints, integrates with market platforms, and controls physical assets. We're blending cloud-native software with industrial-grade infrastructure.
What you'll do
- Design, implement, troubleshoot, and optimize automation solutions using PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and HMI systems. Integrate industrial control systems with other software/hardware.
- Work with electrical schematics, sensors (e.g. energy meters), actuators, and communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, Profibus, OPC, Ethernet/IP).
- Lead automation/control system projects from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations, and manage partnerships with technology providers to ensure a long-term successful integration strategy.
- Oversee factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and commissioning of automation/control systems at customer sites.
- Optimize control strategies to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Manage detailed technical documentation, including functional specifications, risk assessments, and operational manuals.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and provide technical support to production teams.
You might be a fit if
- You have a degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- You have 5+ years in industrial automation, control systems, or process control (e.g. manufacturing, process industry, energy).
- You have hands‑on experience with major PLC platforms and SCADA/DCS systems (ABB, Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, and smaller ones) and industrial communication protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, Profibus, …).
- You're proficient in structured text, ladder logic, function block diagrams, and high-level languages (Python, C#) for industrial automation, with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve automation/control system issues.
- You know industry safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 61508, SIL, ATEX) and electrical regulations.
- You have the ability to lead projects and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Result oriented — strong drive and track record of getting things done.
- Hands‑on with a can‑do attitude and high level of persistence.
- High energy, comfortable working at an entrepreneurial tempo.
- You want to join a team that works together, meets in office every day and solves hard and fun problems.
- You'll join at the ground floor with equity and ownership.
- You'll help build something that directly accelerates the energy transition.
- You'll get to solve hard technical problems with real-world impact.
Plug into the future. Let's shape it together.
