Job summary

Deploja is seeking a seasoned Android consultant to join our Malmö team. You will own a production mobile application, drive Kotlin-based architecture, and collaborate with clients or internal projects within our consulting business.

The role emphasizes pragmatic decision-making, debt management, mentoring, and delivering safe, incremental improvements using Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, DI, Gradle optimization, and robust testing.

Qualifications

• Several years of professional mobile development experience, with senior-level expertise.
• Ability to take technical ownership of a production mobile app.
• Ability to make pragmatic architectural decisions and explain the reasoning behind them.
• Identify technical debt and distinguish between issues that should be addressed immediately, incrementally or deliberately left alone.
• Able to lead technical improvements without requiring a large rewrite.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in mature apps with legacy code.
• Comfortable challenging existing technical decisions and ways of working constructively.
• Experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and traditional Views, Coroutines and Flow.
• Modern Android architecture, dependency injection, Gradle build configuration/optimisation.
• Unit, integration and UI testing; lifecycle and platform APIs.
• CI/CD for mobile apps; automated build, test and quality checks.
• Automated or streamlined App Store/Google Play delivery; separating deployment from release.
• Versioning, release management, rollback and hotfix strategies.
• Establishing automated testing; safely refactoring legacy code incrementally.
• Constructively challenging existing decisions and ways of working.
• Mentoring and supporting mobile developers; providing constructive code-review feedback
