Job summary

ECM Selection (Holdings) Limited in Cambridge seeks RF engineers to design and optimise RF systems for high‑frequency communications and sensing, including phased‑array antennas and beamforming. Senior to graduate engineers are welcome to apply for multiple roles on defence projects.

Apply your RF engineering experience to innovative defence projects

Cambridge; £35,000 to £80,000 DoE

Open to senior to graduate engineers, this tech product company is looking to recruit multiple RF Engineers. Project work would revolve around design and optimisation of RF systems used in high-frequency communications and sensing (involving phased-array antenna design and beamforming technologies). Furthermore, these technologies will be engineered into larger systems so testing and validation of RF performance and reliability will be paramount.

Requirements

• Strong academic background in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (1st from a top ranked university and ideally to Master's level).


• Demonstrable project experience of RF design and testing (through extensive internships or academic project work for junior level applicants, or industry projects for more senior level applicants).


• Experience using RF lab equipment (spectrum and network analysers, signal generators).


• Experience / exposure of phased-array antennas and beamforming.


• Deep understanding of SDRs, RF front-end components and RF communication and modulation standards. (For junior applicants, some exposure in these areas).


• Strong fundamental knowledge of RF and microwave theory including relevant equations and laws.


• Additional experience with Linux (for systems testing), general low level programming, and relevant manufacturing processes would be beneficial.

As project work is defence related, all applicants must be eligible for security clearance (British national who has resided in the UK for the past 5 years). All work is based onsite at their offices / workshop which is sited close to Cambridge.
