Job summary

SSC Space is seeking a REXUS/BEXUS Program Manager to join the Payloads & Flight Systems team. You will support student teams from design reviews through testing and launch, acting as Payload Manager during campaigns at Esrange Space Center and coordinating with partners across Europe.

The role blends office coordination with hands-on activities, and requires fluency in English, strong organizational skills, and willingness to travel across Europe, including summers.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical background.
• Understanding of electrical or software design and engineering.
• Organized and able to coordinate multiple activities and stakeholders.
• Clear communication and ability to guide others.
• Able to work independently while collaborating with students, colleagues and international partners.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Enjoys combining office-based work with hands-on activities.
• Willing and able to travel regularly within Europe, including during the summer.
• Previous involvement in REXUS/BEXUS or similar hands-on programs is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the selection of student experiments and conduct key technical reviews, including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR).
• Review the electrical and software aspects of the student teams’ experiments.
• Conduct Integration Progress Reviews and Acceptance Reviews at universities across Europe.
• Guide student teams to develop experiments that are safe and ready for integration, testing and launch.
• Act as Payload Manager during REXUS and BEXUS launch campaigns at Esrange Space Center.
• Coordinate experiment readiness with the Esrange campaign manager and the wider campaign organization.
• Participate in integration and functional testing activities in Germany for the REXUS campaigns.
• Collaborate with program partners: SNSA, DLR, ESA, ZARM, DLR MORABA and SSC Space.
• Support proposals for future program funding cycles and contribute to managing SSC Space’s program budget.
