SSC Space in Sweden seeks a REXUS/BEXUS Program Manager to join the Payloads & Flight Systems team in Solna or Kiruna. You will support student teams through design reviews, integration and launch campaigns, coordinating with international partners.

Travel across Europe is required as you guide experiments from concept to launch, ensuring safety, compliance and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical background.
• Good understanding of electrical or software design and engineering.
• Organized and able to coordinate several activities and stakeholders.
• Clear communication and willing to support others.
• Willing to travel regularly within Europe, including summer.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Participate in selection of student experiments and conduct key technical reviews, including Preliminary Design Reviews and Critical Design Reviews.
• Review the electrical and software aspects of the student teams’ experiments.
• Conduct Integration Progress Reviews and Acceptance Reviews at universities across Europe.
• Guide student teams and help them develop experiments that are safe and ready for integration, testing and launch.
• Act as Payload Manager during REXUS and BEXUS launch campaigns at Esrange Space Center.
• Coordinate experiment readiness with the Esrange campaign manager and the wider campaign organization.
• Participate in integration and functional testing activities in Germany for the REXUS campaigns.
• Collaborate closely with the program partners: SNSA, DLR, ESA, ZARM, DLR MORABA and SSC Space.
• Support proposals for future program funding cycles and contribute to managing SSC Space’s program budget.

The REXUS/BEXUS program gives university students from across Europe the opportunity to design and conduct scientific and technological experiments on sounding rockets and stratospheric balloons. Each year, two rockets and two balloons are launched from Esrange Space Center in northern Sweden, carrying experiments developed by student teams.

We are now looking for a REXUS/BEXUS Program Manager to join our Payloads & Flight Systems team. Working alongside the current program manager, you will combine technical reviews, international collaboration and hands‑on campaign activities. You will support student teams throughout their projects and help ensure that their experiments are ready for integration, testing and launch.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the next generation of engineers and scientists while taking part in international rocket and balloon campaigns.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds a master’s degree in engineering or has an equivalent technical background.
• Has a good understanding of electrical or software design and engineering.
• Is organized and comfortable coordinating several activities and stakeholders.
• Communicates clearly and enjoys supporting and guiding others.
• Can work independently while collaborating with students, colleagues and international partners.
• Is fluent in spoken and written English.
• Enjoys combining office‑based work with practical, hands‑on activities.
• Is willing and able to travel regularly within Europe, including during the summer.

Previous involvement in REXUS/BEXUS or another hands‑on student, research or educational program is an advantage.
