Job description

Blykalla is a Swedish deep-tech company at the forefront of the nuclear industry, pioneering the development of small modular reactors that provide clean, safe, and reliable energy.

Our unique reactor design will provide safe and green baseload energy that perfectly complements solar and wind power.

Overview

Drive Nuclear Facility Projects Into Reality. Are you an experienced project manager who has delivered regulated research or industrial facilities and wants to take full ownership of establishing facilities for clean energy? We are strengthening our project management team with a project manager focused on delivering facilities such as fuel production and testing infrastructure. This role is for someone who can take full ownership and delivery of facility modification, equipment installation and commissioning projects using commercial/modified off the shelf (COTS/MOTS) equipment. The individual will be experienced in coordinating design, permitting, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning activities in a research oriented environment.

What you’ll get to do

As a Project Manager at Blykalla, you will take primary responsibility for delivering capability installation and broader technology development projects from early definition through execution and handover to the operations team. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and accountability, reporting to the COO and working as part of the project management team.

You will:

  • Own project delivery from end-to-end, including scope definition, planning, budgeting, monitoring, risk management, and delivery.
  • Coordinate and drive facility design performed by internal and external engineering teams.
  • Lead permitting and licensing activities, working closely with regulators and authorities.
  • Manage procurement and contracts for COTS/MOTS equipment, suppliers, EPCs, and construction contractors.
  • Drive facility modifications, installation, commissioning, and readiness for operation.
  • Act as the main point of accountability for schedule, cost, safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Align internal stakeholders across engineering, operations, safety, and management to ensure execution progress.
  • Identify risks early and take action when delivery or compliance is at risk.

A key example project is the build-out of a nuclear fuel development and backend research facility, but the role may also include other testing, manufacturing, or infrastructure facilities as Blykalla grows.

Who you are

You will be part of a highly skilled team with a can-do attitude. We value personnel chemistry and strive to create a workplace where you enjoy coming to work. You are a project manager who has delivered real facility enhancement projects in a highly regulated industrial or research environment and understands what it takes to go from approved plans to an operational facility. You work in a structured way, are comfortable with documentation and regulatory interaction, and take responsibility for outcomes.

To succeed in this role, we believe you have:

  • A degree in science, engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Solid experience leading projects that deliver industrial or research facilities, production lines, laboratories, or testing infrastructure.
  • Direct responsibility for coordinating design, procurement, construction, and contractors.
  • Experience working in regulated environments where permits, inspections, and formal approvals are part of the delivery.
  • A track record of delivering facilities modification projects on time and within an agreed budget.
  • Experience in using MS Project to create and update project plans.
  • The ability to work independently, make decisions, and drive execution without constant supervision.
  • Fluency in both English and Swedish.

Experience from nuclear, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, energy, chemicals, or other safety-critical industries is highly relevant. Nuclear experience and licensing exposure are strong advantages, but equivalent experience from other regulated fields is fully acceptable.

If you are not sure that you are 100% qualified but are up to the challenge, we encourage you to apply.

Location

The position is based in Stockholm, with travel to sites and partner facilities expected.
