Job summary

Brightsmith is seeking an experienced Project Director for Sweden to lead high-value data centre and critical infrastructure projects. You will own the full delivery lifecycle, from planning through to handover, coordinating engineers, contractors and clients across multiple disciplines.

The role requires senior leadership in complex environments, with strong commercial acumen and a proven ability to manage risk, budgets and schedules while upholding Swedish health and safety standards.

Qualifications

Project Director – Sweden | Data Centres & Critical Infrastructure

If you're an experienced project leader with a background in data centres, critical infrastructure or large-scale technical installations, this is an opportunity to join a leading Nordic business delivering major, technically complex projects across Sweden.

We're looking for a Project Director who can take full ownership of large-scale, multidisciplinary projects, overseeing everything from project planning and technical delivery through to commercial performance, stakeholder management and successful handover.

This is a senior leadership position requiring someone who can operate at the intersection of project delivery, engineering, commercial management and client relationships.

The role goes beyond traditional project management. You'll be responsible for leading major project teams, managing complex contractual and financial requirements, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.

What you'll be doing

• Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of large-scale data centre, infrastructure and technical installation projects.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams across electrical, mechanical, HVAC and associated technical installations.
• Oversee the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and engineering through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Take ownership of project budgets, financial performance, forecasting and commercial risk.
• Manage contractual obligations, variations, change orders and commercial negotiations throughout project delivery.
• Establish and oversee project delivery structures, ensuring effective resource allocation, planning and coordination across teams.
• Act as the senior point of contact for clients, main contractors, subcontractors and key project stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate technical, operational and commercial risks to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with Swedish construction regulations, health and safety standards and quality assurance requirements.
• Provide leadership and direction to project managers, construction managers and technical specialists.

What we're looking for

• Extensive experience leading large-scale construction, infrastructure or technical installation projects in a senior project management or leadership capacity.
• Experience within hyperscale data centres or mission-critical infrastructure would be highly desirable.
• Alternatively, a strong background across industrial facilities, major infrastructure, energy or other technically complex construction environments.
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary MEP projects, ideally involving electrical, mechanical, HVAC or integrated building systems.
• Strong commercial and financial understanding, including project budgets, forecasting, contractual management, variations and risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large project teams and coordinate multiple subcontractors and technical disciplines.
• Experience managing senior client relationships and working closely with main contractors and external stakeholders.
• Good understanding of Swedish construction regulations, contractual frameworks and health and safety requirements.
• Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple project priorities.
• Professional fluency in Swedish and English.
• Candidates from Project Director, Projektchef, Projektdirektör, Senior Project Manager, Construction Director or senior MEP project delivery backgrounds could be relevant.
