Job summary

DeLaval is seeking a Production Engineer in Tumba, Sweden, offering a hybrid work model. You will lead production processes, drive improvements, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and suppliers to deliver high-quality, cost-efficient operations.

The role emphasizes safety, lean processes, and successful implementation of new products and industrialization activities. This is a full-time, permanent position based at DeLaval’s headquarters in Tumba, just south of Stockholm.

  • Analyze production performance, identify bottlenecks and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Promote safety culture and environmental sustainability objectives.

Production Engineer

Role And Responsibilities

As a Production Engineer, you are responsible for leading and developing production processes with a strong focus on quality, efficiency, safety, and manufacturability. You play a key role in introducing new products, improving assembly solutions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Manufacturing Safety, Quality and Operational Excellence - Ensure manufacturing operations deliver high levels of safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency through continuous improvement and robust processes.
  • Lead Investment and Industrialization Projects - Manage manufacturing investment (CAPEX) projects from concept and feasibility through implementation, commissioning, validation, and handover to production.
  • Optimize Production Performance - Analyze manufacturing performance, identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities, and implement sustainable solutions that enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure Safe and Sustainable Operations - Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with safety requirements, eliminating risks, and supporting environmental sustainability objectives.
  • Coordinate Technical and Cross-Functional Collaboration - Act as the link between Engineering, Production, Quality, Maintenance, suppliers, and external partners to deliver technical solutions, operational improvements, and business value.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role we believe that you have:

  • Experience working within manufacturing, production engineering, industrialization, or process engineering.
  • Technical degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical) or a related field or experience equivalent to similar degrees.
  • Proven experience leading or participating in investment (CAPEX) projects and industrialization activities.
  • Familiarity with product introductions and phase-in/phase-out processes.
  • Hands‑on involvement in cross‑functional technical projects.
  • Fluency in Swedish and English (including training and communication skills).
Technical Skills
  • Basic 3D CAD knowledge (e.g., Solid Edge).
  • Understanding of Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Experience working with SAP, particularly within Production Engineering (e.g., BOMs, Routings), and Microsoft 365.
Lean & Process Improvement
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing (flow, standard work, first‑time quality).
  • Skills in process optimization (such as Takt Time, operator balancing, pull systems).
  • Proficiency with Lean tools: such as 5S, Problem Solving, Kaizen, Standard Work, VSM, Poka‑Yoke.
