We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Product Owner to co-lead a large-scale global platform transformation.
The assignment covers three tightly connected objectives:
Drive adoption and value realization of the strategic platform.
Lead the phase-out of the existing legacy solution, ensuring a controlled transition.
Drive global deployment and adoption across markets, navigating significant differences in needs, readiness, dependencies, and existing ways of working.
This is a large, complex, and highly interconnected product landscape. The Senior Product Owner will need to create clarity across multiple teams and stakeholders, establish a coherent product and transition direction, manage competing priorities and dependencies, and drive the transformation toward measurable business and user outcomes.
This is not primarily a backlog-management role. It requires a senior product leader who can connect strategy, platform evolution, adoption, migration, and execution across a global organization.
Describe the scope of the consultant’s assignment.
Key responsibilities
- Shape and continuously evolve the product strategy for the platform and its global adoption.
- Translate the strategic direction into a clear multi-year roadmap, balancing platform evolution, market adoption, migration and legacy phase-out.
- Define clear outcomes and priorities across a complex landscape of teams, markets, and dependencies.
- Make strategic trade-offs between global standardization and legitimate local needs.
- Create clarity where requirements, dependencies, or solutions are not yet fully defined.
- Ensure short-term deployment decisions to support the long-term platform direction.
- The underlying framework expects Senior Product Owners to operate with a broader strategic horizon, shape strategy across associated products/components, and align several teams around shared direction.
- Drive adoption of the platform across a global, multi-market environment.
- Establish a clear approach for sequencing and prioritizing deployments based on value, dependencies, and readiness.
- Work closely with markets to understand needs and identify barriers to adoption.
- Ensure market requirements are understood without unnecessarily fragmenting the global product.
- Coordinate product readiness, market readiness, and organizational dependencies.
- Track adoption and outcomes, using evidence to identify where additional product improvements or interventions are needed.
Legacy system phase-out
- Lead the product perspective of the transition from the legacy solution to the strategic platform.
- Establish clear transition priorities and ensure legacy dependencies are understood.
- Balance investment between the strategic platform and what is genuinely required to maintain the legacy solution during transition.
- Drive alignment on migration requirements and phase-out priorities.
- Challenge requirements that create unnecessary dependency on the legacy landscape.
- Maintain focus on the target state while managing the realities of the transition.
Complex cross-team execution
- Lead across multiple teams, products/components, and organizational boundaries.
- Identify and actively manage critical dependencies, risks, and constraints.
- Establish alignment were ownership and accountability across team or functional boundaries.
- Make difficult prioritization decisions when capacity, market needs, and strategic priorities compete.
- Ensure product, technology, business, and deployment activities remain connected to common outcomes.
- Maintain momentum in an environment with significant ambiguity and change.
Senior stakeholder leadership
- Operate as a strategic partner to senior stakeholders rather than simply collecting and managing requirements.
- Navigate a broad global stakeholder landscape spanning markets, business functions, technology teams and other product areas.
- Build alignment across stakeholders with different priorities, constraints, and levels of readiness.
- Influence without formal authority and resolve conflicting perspectives.
- Communicate complex product and transformation topics in a clear, decision-oriented way.
- Escalate selectively while independently resolving issues appropriate to the role.
- Strategic alignment across domains, functions, countries and external partners is part of the Senior Product Owner expectation in the framework.
- Define clear measures for platform adoption, migration progress, product performance, and business/user outcomes.
- Ensure deployment is treated as adoption and value realization, not simply technical rollout.
- Use data and market feedback to continuously adapt priorities.
- Maintain visibility of whether the transformation is generating its intended value.
- Drive corrective action when adoption or outcomes fall short of expectations.
