Job description

We are looking for a postdoc to join our team at the Division of Energy Technology (Dept. of Environmental and Energy Sciences ). Become part of our research group on fluidization and contribute to impactful research in carbon capture within a collaborative and dynamic environment.

About us

At the Division of Energy Technology , we develop and analyse sustainable energy systems and advance technologies for energy conversion and climate mitigation. Through strong national and international collaboration, we unite experimental and theoretical research to create efficient, low-emission solutions, driving the transition towards carbon-neutrality in the energy and industry sectors.

About the research project

You will join FlexCSAR, an EU-project aiming to develop a flexible adsorption-based technology for capturing CO₂ from flue gases. Unlike conventional liquid-solvent methods or fixed bed adsorption, FlexCSAR targets a gas-solids fluidized bed system. By being able to flexibly run on low-grade heat in combination with vacuum and heat pumps, FlexCSAR enables optimized operation based on the availability and prices of electricity and heat.

Who we are looking for

We search for candidates who are curious, collaborative, enjoy working in team, value clear communication, and are interested in carrying out rigorous research and developing their professional skills.

The following requirements are mandatory:
  • A Doctoral degree in a relevant field. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Records of initiative-taking within research work

The following experience will strengthen your application:

  • Experience in designing and carrying out experimental research
  • Experience in gas-solids flow,
  • Experience in academic supervision
What you will do
  • coordinate project tasks at Chalmers
  • design, build and instrument a physical model of a fluidized-bed adsorption stage
  • measure and study solids fluid-dynamics, interphase mass transfer and bed-to-exchanger heat transfer
  • develop closure expressions for mass and heat transfer models
  • communicate with project partners
  • write scientific publications and project reports
  • upon interest, teach at undergraduate/master’s level
Contract terms

The postdoc position is a temporary full-time employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension.
