Job description

Join us at the Department of Environmental and Energy Sciences and help advance knowledge in the understanding of how regions and the regional level can contribute to the energy transition.

About Us

The Department of Environmental and Energy Sciences was established in 2026 and represents a clear and strategic consolidation of efforts in the environmental field, with links to both interdisciplinary research areas and collaboration with society, industry, and academia. Here, expertise and infrastructure are brought together to support new research initiatives, strengthen education, and develop competitive and sustainable solutions to some of the greatest environmental challenges of our time.

At the Division of Energy Technology, we develop and analyse sustainable energy systems and conversion technologies for industry and society. Through strong national and international collaboration, we unite experimental and systems research to create efficient, low-emission solutions driving the transition towards carbon-neutral energy and industry.

About The Research Project

The regional energy systems level is growing in importance. This postdoc position will be part of an interdisciplinary research project studying how the regional level may act to efficiently support the energy and climate transition. The project is based on collaboration with Swedish regions. Modelling of municipal energy cooperation at a regional level and of sectoral coupling between the heating and electricity sectors will be important parts of the research. The postdoc will be expected to develop and apply a regional model of a Swedish region. Utilisation of the TIMES modelling framework will be strongly suggested.
