Job summary

Actalent is seeking a PLC Commissioning Engineer to join its engineering team on large-scale warehousing, distribution, and material handling projects. You will commission automated systems from installation through to handover, diagnosing faults and optimising control systems.

You will collaborate with engineering, software and project teams to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable solutions with a focus on continuous improvement across projects.

Qualifications

• Proven PLC commissioning experience within automation environments.
• Strong Siemens TIA Portal knowledge.
• Experience with Profinet, Profibus, AS-i, and industrial networking.
• Knowledge of servo drives, inverters, and motion control systems.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Experience within warehouse automation, intralogistics, or material handling systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Commission and troubleshoot automated control systems
• Develop and modify PLC software using Siemens TIA Portal
• Diagnose software, hardware, networking, and electrical faults
• Support system integration, testing, and final handover
• Produce commissioning documentation and reports
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and industry standards
• Drive continuous improvement across systems and processes
