Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is delivering a large, technically complex data centre project in Sweden. This hands-on Mechanical Commissioning Engineer role involves being close to the systems from pre-commissioning through to handover, working with site teams, vendors and the client to ensure safe, structured and successful delivery.

You will review drawings, support commissioning plans, coordinate activities, witness testing and help prepare O&M materials as part of a high-standard project team.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical systems knowledge (HVAC, CHW, LTHW)
  • Site-based and actively involved in testing activities
  • Understands commissioning sequencing and system interfaces
  • Clear communication with multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

  • Review IFC drawings, specs and submittals
  • Support commissioning plan development and implementation
  • Assist with system boundaries, methodologies and sequencing
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with package engineers, planners and vendors
  • Prepare and review commissioning checklists, scripts and test packs
  • Witness and verify commissioning and functional testing
  • Support tag walks, walkdowns and system inspections
  • Update commissioning trackers, logs and progress reports
  • Identify snags, tracking close-out and supporting handover readiness
  • Assist with preparation of O&M documentation and training materials
  • Support client commissioning meetings when required

Mechanical Commissioning Engineer – Data Centre Project
Location: Sweden

If you’re a commissioning engineer who likes being close to the systems, understands how things should work in the real world, and wants to be properly involved from pre‑commissioning through to handover — this role is for you.

We’re delivering a large, technically complex data centre project in Sweden. The programme is driven, the standards are high, and commissioning is critical. We’re looking for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer who can support the safe, structured and successful delivery of mechanical building services systems.

This is a hands‑on role with real exposure, working alongside experienced commissioning leadership and directly with site teams, vendors and the client.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Reviewing IFC drawings, specifications and mechanical submittals
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the commissioning plan
  • Assisting with system boundaries, methodologies and sequencing
  • Coordinating commissioning activities with package engineers, planners and vendors
  • Preparing and reviewing commissioning checklists, scripts and test packs
  • Witnessing and verifying commissioning and functional testing activities
  • Supporting tag walks, walkdowns and system inspections
  • Updating commissioning trackers, logs and progress reports
  • Identifying snags, tracking close‑out and supporting handover readiness
  • Assisting with preparation of O&M documentation and training materials
  • Supporting client commissioning meetings when required
Quality, Compliance & Risk
  • Ensuring testing activities follow approved procedures
  • Verifying compliance with specifications and client standards
  • Identifying issues early and escalating risks to the commissioning lead
  • Assisting with inspections, audits and client sign‑off processes
