Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer based in Sweden to lead electrical design and manage project activities from design through commissioning. The role requires coordinating with onsite teams, BIM and supply chain to ensure timely delivery of safe, compliant installations for critical facilities.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in construction projects, strong knowledge of LV/MV systems, and proficiency with Amtech, Dialux, AutoCAD and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • 3rd level qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with LV and MV systems in building services and data centre environments.
  • Knowledge of current Design Guides, Codes of Practice, IEC/BS7671 Regulations, Building Regulations, EN Standards and IEC Standards.
  • Experience in Amtech, Dialux, AutoCAD 2D and MS Office Suite.
  • Experience of client, vendor & contractor interaction & management.
  • Significant project engineering experience of 7+ years ideally in a construction environment.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental systems and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Engineering Design and Design Management tasks on Projects as part of an integrated project team.
  • Coordinate technical design with the onsite installation through to commissioning.
  • Review electrical designs to identify gaps and deviations or contradictions in specifications.
  • Compile and issue electrical submittals and manage the approvals process.
  • Liaise with the design team & supply chain to ensure proper operation and handover of plant on site.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and graduates.
  • Ensure systems are compliant with specifications and drawings and develop design deliverables.

Role Purpose

As Senior Electrical Engineer based in Sweden will be responsible for the engineering activities on a specific construction project. The activities associated with the project will vary and will be agreed with the Project Manager on an ongoing basis. You will co-ordinate the technical design with the onsite installation through to the successful commissioning ensuring that the Kirby Group vision, mission & values are fulfilled.

Senior Electrical Engineer Responsibilities
  • Complete electrical design review to identify design gaps and deviations or contradictions in the specifications.
  • Validate cable sizing and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Ensure that technical assessments are completed as required and technical issues are resolved without delay.
  • Compile and issue electrical technical submittals.
  • Manage submittals through the approvals process, track procurement and delivery of electrical equipment and complete the receipt verification process once the equipment is delivered.
  • Attend & record regular supply chain meetings to ensure that progress is monitored & maintained within the overall construction programme.
  • Update and record progress on system trackers which are fully aligned with the construction schedule.
  • Review the electrical installation with the BIM team to ensure the design is constructible and that there is adequate space for installation and maintenance of all equipment and cabling.
  • Liaise with the design team & supply chain to ensure correct operation of the plant on site & successful handover.
  • Complete electrical system walk-downs to ensure systems are compliant with specifications and drawings.
  • Compile test pack, FTOP's and O&Ms and present for approval.
  • Manage specialist vendors during the commissioning process to ensure timely completion of their works.
  • Undertake client training in line with agreed training plan.
  • Lead Engineering Design and Design Management tasks on Projects as part of an integrated project team,
  • Strong technical ability in all aspects of Electrical Engineering Services & Design,
  • Proactive with a strong ability to work independently and without supervision,
  • Design and specification of Electrical Engineering Solutions to current regulations and design standards,
  • Working directly with clients and project engineers to define project requirements and develop technical solutions,
  • Develop and agree design processes and design deliverables,
  • Lead Pre-Construction Engineering activities and the production of information including, design development, construction details, services coordination, technical submittals, sub-contracts, etc,
  • Assist in the continual improvement of the QA System and execute project reviews,
  • Provide technical support to the estimating, procurement, commercial, marketing and project bid teams,
  • Provide off site technical support to construction teams on projects,
Necessary requirement of the Senior Electrical Engineer
  • 3rd level Qualification in Electrical Engineering / Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience with both LV and MV systems primarily in building services and data centre environments.
  • Knowledge & experience of current Design Guides, Codes of Practice, ETCI and or BS7671 Regulations, Building Regulations, EN Standards and IEC Standards, etc,
  • Experience in Amtech, Dialux, Adobe Pro, Autodesk AutoCAD 2D and MS Office Suite Software,
  • Experience of client, vendor & contractor interaction & management,
  • Significant Project engineering experience of 7 years+ ideally in a construction environment.
  • Previous record of delivering Electrical projects (Commercial, Industrial, pharma, data centre type projects)
