If you’re the kind of engineer who wants to take real ownership of commissioning — not just tick boxes — this should get your attention.
We’re delivering a major data centre project in Sweden. It’s fast‑paced, highly technical and full of the sort of moving parts where strong commissioning leadership makes or breaks the job. That’s why we’re looking for a Mechanical Commissioning Lead who knows how to bring systems online properly, manage multiple specialists, and keep both the quality and the momentum exactly where they need to be.
You’ll be the person who makes sure the commissioning doesn’t just happen — it happens in the right sequence, with the right documentation, and to the standard the client expects.
You’ll help define system boundaries, manage benchmarks, oversee test packs, and ensure everything is accurate, compliant and ready for inspection. You’ll also take a proactive role in identifying risks, reporting them clearly, and helping the project team stay ahead of possible delays.
You’ll issue weekly commissioning and risk reports, advise on potential variations, and work closely with QS and PM teams to avoid surprises. Clear communication is essential — especially when something might impact programme.
If you like being the person who brings systems to life, who spots issues early, and who knows how to manage commissioning in a structured but practical way — you’ll thrive here. Data centre experience is an advantage, but strong commissioning leadership and mechanical expertise matter most.
You’ll enjoy this role if you prefer action over bureaucracy, responsibility over hand‑holding, and clarity over chaos.
Special consideration will be given to candidates belonging to protected categories.
Kirby Group Engineering is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of race, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age.
