Job summary

Klättermusen AB in Åre, Sweden, is seeking a Material Developer and Team Lead to drive fabric development and cross‑location leadership between Åre and Shanghai. The role combines hands‑on materials work with coaching the Shanghai Material Team, aligning with Sweden and cross‑functional partners on performance, sustainability, quality and cost.

The role requires a textile/material science background and 3+ years in fabric development, plus strong leadership across cultures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in fabric and trims development for outdoor/technical textiles.
• Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Material Science, or related field.
• Experience with sustainable materials in footwear, packs, or apparel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Proven ability to lead and coach teams across locations.

Responsibilities

• Fabric development: source and develop materials meeting performance, aesthetics, and sustainability goals.
• Update and report to product development and management.
• Ensure materials meet regulatory and safety standards and PLM accuracy.
• Negotiate prices, lead times, and MOQs with suppliers.
• Quality testing: develop protocols and coordinate bulk fabric testing with teams.
• Investigate material quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers.
• Sustainability: identify opportunities to use sustainable materials and reduce environmental impact.
• Team leadership: lead Shanghai team, set priorities, and manage performance and development.
• Recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning; alignment with Sweden team and cross-functional partners.
• Develop clear processes and escalate risks; ensure collaboration between Shanghai and Sweden.
• Maintain supplier relationships and support commercial with sustainability/material data.
