Job summary

VAROPreem is seeking a Vetting Specialist to evaluate vessel suitability and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards. You will review vetting requests, coordinate inspections, and provide guidance on maritime safety and compliance while enjoying a high degree of autonomy.

The role offers location flexibility across Stockholm, Gothenburg, or Rotterdam, with opportunities to contribute to vetting policies and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Master Mariner with >=5 years as Chief Officer or Master aboard tanker vessels.
• Extensive experience with SIRE/CDI inspections on board.
• Strong background in maritime safety, compliance and operations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Fluent in English; Swedish/German/Dutch languages preferred.
• Driver's license class B.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily vessel vetting operations in Mainstay.
• Review vetting requests and approve or reject vessels per VAROPreem policies.
• Coordinate vessel and office inspections with operators, inspectors and stakeholders.
• Support the organisation with vessel safety and environmental matters.
• Manage vetting administration, including invoicing, reporting and statistics.
• Maintain port, refinery and depot contact.
• Represent VAROPreem in industry forums.
