Job summary

SoCode Limited is seeking a Lead Software Architect in Cambridgeshire to drive architectural thinking, guide technical decisions and shape the evolution of complex software systems. The role balances long-term vision with practical engineering challenges across multidisciplinary teams.

You will influence technical direction across multiple projects, aiming to improve platforms, explore new approaches and establish robust foundations for future development.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in software architecture, system design or senior software engineering with responsibility for technical direction.
• Strong software development background in C++, C#, Python or similar.
• Experience designing and evolving complex software systems with focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Ability to assess architectural options, develop technical roadmaps and balance priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction: Define architectural principles and design approaches that support evolving business and engineering needs.
• Modernise and improve: Identify opportunities to enhance existing systems and improve long-term maintainability.
• Guide complex engineering: Support teams with system design, trade-offs, integration challenges and architectural decisions.
• Shape future development: Develop technical roadmaps and assess emerging technologies.
