Job summary

Elekta in Stockholm is seeking a Lead Research Scientist to pursue innovation in physics, optimization, and machine learning within the Neuro business line. You will work in a dedicated research and pre-development group, developing future technology and prototype systems in collaboration with others.

The role emphasizes strong Python software development, production ML pipelines, and mentoring. You will engage with early-stage ML product development with a focus on improving patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• PhD in ML, Applied Mathematics, Physics or MSc with significant industry/research experience.
• 2+ years of post-PhD research or technology development.
• Experience developing ML solutions and production-grade ML pipelines.
• Strong Python software development skills with sound engineering practices.
• Good communication in English; Swedish beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and innovation activities aligned with Elekta's strategic objectives.
• Contribute to ML production pipelines and scalable, maintainable software solutions.
• Develop and evaluate future technology concepts across physics, optimization, mathematical modelling, machine learning and software development.
• Design prototypes and perform scientific analyses, evaluations and technical investigations.
• Provide technical expertise across R&D, regulatory, quality and product development activities.
• Promote software development best practices focused on quality, collaboration and maintainability.
• Mentor colleagues and share expertise to strengthen technical excellence.
