Job summary

Valmet seeks an experienced Lead Engineer for our EI&C Engineering team in Scandinavia to own control solutions for cooking and fiberline processes. You will design, program, and commission advanced automation while collaborating with customers, process experts, and project teams worldwide.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, APC principles, and strong English communication in a globally distributed environment. A MSc/BSc in engineering and relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or another relevant technical field.
• Several years of experience working with industrial automation systems and process control.
• Experience with DCS programming and control application development.
• Knowledge of Advanced Process Control (APC) principles and implementation.
• Understanding of cooking, fiberline, or continuous process industries is considered an advantage.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in international project teams.
• Strong communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement advanced process control solutions for pulp mill cooking processes.
• Program and configure DCS applications and control strategies.
• Participate in automation system design, testing, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Analyze process performance and identify opportunities for optimization and improved operational stability.
• Work closely with process engineers, project managers, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance within your area of expertise.
• Support customer service assignments, upgrades, and optimization projects.
