Mechanical Design Engineer (Sub‑Project Manager)

AlfaWall AB, a company owned by Alfa Laval and Wallenius Water, is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to combine hands‑on mechanical design work with leading smaller development projects within our engineering organization.

About the Job

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will perform R&D activities related to the PureBallast system, execute mechanical design and technical documentation for production, verify and review designs, maintain product structures in PDM systems, provide technical support, and communicate with other departments, suppliers, and production. You will also lead smaller technical projects from initiation to completion, coordinate activities, gather resources, and collaborate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform R&D activities related to PureBallast system, components, and subcomponents.
• Execute mechanical design, drawings and technical documentation needed for production, related to new product development and product care.
• Perform test, verification, and design reviews.
• Generate and maintain product structures in PDM systems.
• Technical support for mechanical design of PureBallast.
• Communicate with other departments, suppliers, and production.
• Stay up to date with new technologies, design methods and tools.
• Lead smaller technical projects from initiation to completion.
• Plan, coordinate and follow up activities related to the projects.
• Identify, develop and gather the resources necessary to complete the project.
• Collaborate with engineers, production, market, suppliers and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least three years of work experience in mechanical design.
• Good knowledge of CAD and PDM systems. Experience in Inventor for mechanical design or similar is valued.
• Experience or strong interest in project coordination or project management.
• Knowledge of material properties, specifications, and standards.
• Strong communication skills in English and Swedish.
• Structured, self‑driven, creative, comfortable taking responsibility and outgoing with high motivation to solve problems.
• Used to work independently but energised by working as part of a team.
• Experience in mechanical design within maritime environments, as well as experience as a sub‑project leader or technical lead, is considered a strong asset.
