Job summary

AlfaWall Oceanbird AB, a joint venture of Alfa Laval and Wallenius, is developing wing-sail technology for the global shipping market. We are seeking a Hydraulics Engineer to join our team in Flemingsberg, Stockholm.

You will design hydraulic systems, select components, test systems onboard vessels and contribute to safety, regulatory submissions and system documentation in cross-functional teams with control, electrical and mechanical engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in hydraulics, mechanical or mechatronics engineering.
  • Coursework or experience in hydraulic system design.
  • Self-motivated and a good team player.
  • Experience in marine or regulatory contexts is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design hydraulic systems and create hydraulic schematic diagrams.
  • Select valves, pumps, filters, and pipes.
  • Hands-on testing of hydraulic systems and analysis of results.
  • Ensure hydraulic safety and assess risks.
  • Test and commission systems onboard vessels.
  • Define requirements for future wing actuation system.
  • Interface with suppliers and support regulatory submissions.

AlfaWall Oceanbird AB, a joint venture of Alfa Laval and Wallenius, is developing wing‑sail technology for the global shipping market. We are looking for a Hydraulics Engineer to join our team in Flemingsberg, Stockholm.

What will you do?
  • Hydraulic system design and creation of hydraulic schematic diagrams.
  • Selection of hydraulic components such as valves, pumps, filters, and pipes.
  • Hands‑on testing of the hydraulic system, including measurement systems and analysis of test results.
  • Assuring hydraulic system safety and assessing risks related to the hydraulic system.
  • Testing and commissioning of the systems onboard vessels.
  • Defining requirements, concepts and solutions for new generations of the wing actuation system.
  • Technical interface toward suppliers.
  • Support with regulatory submissions and hydraulic system documentation.
Who are you?
  • At least a bachelor's degree in hydraulics, mechanical or mechatronics engineering, or an equivalent engineering degree.
  • Either a record of courses in hydraulic system design or equivalent work experience.
  • Self‑go‑and self‑motivated.
  • Strong team player, thriving while working with others to reach common goals and contribute to sustainable shipping.

In addition, it is beneficial to have experience in one or more of the following:

  • Practical experience from hydraulic installation work.
  • Experience of hydraulic testing, test tools and analysis of measurement results.
  • Experience of hydraulic scheme design tools, preferably HyDraw.
  • Experience of control system design, sensor selection, electrical installation, etc.
  • System modelling and simulation in Matlab/Simulink.
  • Experience of mechanical CAD, preferably CREO.
  • Experience working cross‑functionally with control‑system, electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure complete system performance.
  • Working experience within the marine industry and DNV regulations.

Regular travel to our test site in Landskrona is expected, as well as time spent with testing and commissioning aboard oceangoing ships.

Relocation support will be offered as needed for the right candidate.
