Job summary

Ansvar, proudly part of Benefact Group, is seeking an Underwriter to join our Brighton office. You will underwrite within delegated authority and work closely with brokers to balance growth with prudent underwriting.

You’ll assess risks, determine terms and negotiate policies, while developing relationships to support business development and retention. The role offers hybrid working and study support for professional qualifications.

Qualifications

• Qualified Cert CII or commitment to achieve within an agreed timescale.
• Market, Industry and Company knowledge.
• A proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Commercial Insurance experience essential.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite business within delegated authority, delivering profitable growth in line with underwriting appetite.
• Assess risks, determine appropriate terms and make sound underwriting decisions using technical expertise and commercial judgement.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and key stakeholders to support business development and customer retention.
• Negotiate policy terms and deliver a high-quality, right-first-time service to brokers and customers.
• Analyse underwriting data and performance trends to identify opportunities and inform decision‑making.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, underwriting standards and internal controls.
• Maintain accurate underwriting records and documentation.
• Support broker engagement activities and contribute to the growth of the portfolio.
• Continuously develop technical knowledge through professional qualifications and ongoing learning.
