Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Sweden seeks an engineer to lead plant electrical design for HVDC converter station projects. Based in Ludvika or Västerås, you will translate customer requirements into compliant engineering deliverables and collaborate across project teams.

You’ll own design work, review supplier documentation, apply standards, and contribute to successful delivery from design through execution. English communication and a proactive, quality-focused approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, industrial, computer science) or related technical field.
• Proven experience in a technical engineering role, preferably within a project-based environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and professional proficiency in English.
• A structured and proactive approach with a focus on quality, accuracy, and delivery.
• Experience from the energy sector, power systems, HVDC, or related industries is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop plant circuit and cable engineering designs for HVDC converter station projects.
• Translate customer specifications and contractual requirements into compliant engineering deliverables.
• Review and validate technical documentation from suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure technical and contractual compliance.
• Apply established design principles, engineering standards, and base solutions to meet project requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and technical specialists throughout project execution.
• Identify and resolve technical issues, risks, and design deviations that may impact project delivery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering methods, tools, and design documentation.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, industrial, computer science) or related technical field
