Job summary

Astek in Gothenburg, Sweden, is seeking a Harness Design Engineer to contribute to automotive electrical systems. You will participate in 3D routing, 2D schematics, component selection, and system optimization across the development cycle, from concept to production support.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and work with harness prototypes, manufacturing processes, and troubleshooting to drive reliable, efficient vehicle wiring solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechatronics or related field.
• Experience in automotive wiring harness design is required.
• Proficiency with 2D electrical design tools (Saber, E3, Capital, Eplan, or SolidWorks Electrical).
• Experience with 3D CAD tools (Catia, NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD).
• Fluent in English; Swedish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop wiring harness concepts and 3D routing.

Are you passionate about electrical systems and want to play a key role in the future of automotive electrification? We’re looking for a Harness Design Engineer who thrives in complex environments and enjoys working across the full development cycle.

About the role

In this role, you will be a central part of developing wiring harness systems that enable modern vehicles to function reliably and efficiently. You will work broadly across the entire process, from 3D routing and installation to 2D schematics, component selection, and system optimization.

The role also includes involvement in prototyping, troubleshooting, and supporting production, giving you a holistic view of how electrical systems come together. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to driving innovation within electrical architecture and harness design.

We believe you have experience with:

• Wiring harness design within the automotive industry
• 2D electrical design tools such as Saber, E3, Capital, Eplan, or SolidWorks Electrical
• 3D CAD tools such as Catia, NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD
• Working with harness prototypes, manufacturing, and production processes
• Troubleshooting and resolving electrical or system-related issues
• Understanding of electrical systems, components, and dimensioning
• Working across different phases of development, from concept to implementation

An engineering background within electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics is preferred, but equivalent experience is also valued.

Fluency in English is required, Swedish is considered a plus.
