Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking two Project Engineers for the Harmonic Analysis team within HVDC. You will work on harmonic analysis, power quality, and electrical system studies for HVDC converter stations, collaborating across projects to ensure successful integration with electrical networks and offshore wind farms.

The role welcomes both entry-level and experienced candidates, emphasizing an engineering mindset and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Engineering Physics.
General understanding of electrical power systems and related equipment.
Ability to model and analyze electrical circuits in the frequency domain, both by hand and using computer-based tools.
Understanding of how multi-phase systems can be analyzed using modes.
A practical approach to problem solving, recognizing data uncertainty and the need to discuss with customers for effective solutions.
Strong communication and technical report writing skills.
Programming experience in MATLAB is highly beneficial. Experience with Python is also valued.
Experience with EMT tools such as PSCAD is advantageous.
Fluency in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

Perform harmonic studies below 15 kHz for HVDC converter stations and support commissioning measurements.
Evaluate if harmonic power quality requirements can be met.
Analyze small-signal stability in the harmonic range when connecting HVDC stations to networks or wind farms.
Propose active or passive mitigation measures like filters or dampers when needed.
Calculate harmonic stresses in HVDC equipment and assess mitigation or redesign needs.
Develop data analysis tools in Excel, MATLAB, or Python for large datasets.
Present findings to colleagues, customers, and suppliers and contribute to discussions.
Write clear technical reports describing study work and results.
Participate in conferences and standardization work groups within the engineering community.
