From your first weeks you will contribute to real business projects from day one, collaborating with colleagues across Operations, Supply Chain and wider business functions. As you progress through the programme, you will build your understanding of end-to-end Operations, from manufacturing to planning and supply network management, while helping teams solve operational challenges and deliver business results.

This is an exciting opportunity to build a broad understanding of end-to-end factory operations and the wider value chain, while developing the skills and experience needed for future leadership roles. As part of the Global Graduate Programme, you will gain hands‑on experience across Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and Logistics, working closely with different teams to understand how people, processes, materials and technology come together to deliver safe, compliant and efficient operations.

Your journey will include experience in three key areas core production and process improvement; cross‑functional projects connecting Production and Engineering; and Supply Chain and Logistics, including production scheduling and the implementation of new systems and ways of working. You will be given real responsibility from the start, combining operational exposure with project management, structured problem solving and continuous improvement.

Each graduate will have a unique experience, shaped by business priorities and individual development needs.

To give you an idea of the type of work you will be doing, previous placements have included

  • Developing end‑to‑end understanding of our manufacturing processes and identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency and operational performance.

  • Working closely with Production teams to understand daily operations, applying structured problem‑solving methodologies and supporting continuous improvement activities.

  • Supporting and progressively taking ownership of process improvement projects, from problem definition and analysis through implementation and follow‑up.

  • Acting as a link between Production and Engineering, supporting future investment and improvement projects from planning through implementation.

  • Building an understanding of Supply Chain and Logistics, including production planning, scheduling, material flows and their connection to factory operations.

  • Supporting the implementation of new digital systems and processes, including GMES, and helping teams transition successfully to new ways of working.

  • Collaborating across functions, using data, structured problem solving and project management to turn insights into practical and sustainable improvements.

  • Carrying out activities in accordance with applicable environmental, occupational safety and fire protection requirements, as well as internal Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability standards and procedures.

You will not be doing this alone. A dedicated coach and mentor will support your development, alongside structured learning and a global network of fellow graduates. In addition to this, you will get the opportunity to attend our International Grad Academy where you will collaborate in person with BAT graduates from around the world. By the end of the programme, you will have built the commercial, strategic and leadership capabilities needed to take the next step in your career with BAT.
