BAT is evolving at pace into a global multi-category business. Our purpose is to create A Better Tomorrow™ by Building a Smokeless World. To achieve our ambition, we are looking for colleagues who are ready to join us on this journey! Tomorrow can’t wait, let’s shape it together!

British American Tobacco Sweden has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer in Malmö.

The Process Engineer plays a key role in driving operational excellence and supporting the factory’s performance agenda. The role is responsible for ensuring high-quality operational reporting (OEE, waste, productivity, MTBF), maintaining accurate production stock data, and enabling waste and loss elimination across the site. Working closely with Production, Finance, HR, Logistics, and LE Pillar teams, the Process Engineer combines technical insight, analytical capabilities, and strong stakeholder collaboration to improve process stability, reduce losses, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This role acts as a subject‑matter contributor within the Lean Excellence (LE) Pillar and ensures consistent application of global standards, structured problem‑solving methods, and best practices to elevate factory performance.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Own OEE Performance Reporting: Ensure accurate calculation and reporting of OEE, OEE loss categories, and MTBF in alignment with global reporting standards, working closely with Production Line Structure teams.
  • Manage the Production Stock Area (PSA): Maintain accurate material master data, conduct regular stock counts, and perform required stock adjustments in accordance with policy and audit requirements.
  • Waste Measurement & Reporting: Calculate and report Blend Waste and WMS Waste in line with global standards, ensuring high data quality and timely submission.
  • Drive Process Improvement: Partner with Production teams to identify efficiency and waste‑reduction opportunities. Prioritize improvement ideas, develop robust action plans, and ensure their effective deployment.
  • Productivity Reporting: Collaborate with Finance and HR to calculate, validate, and report Productivity KPIs, ensuring full alignment with regional and global methodologies.
  • Dashboard & Performance File Ownership: Ensure the Sweden dashboard and Regional MPD files are updated accurately, on time, and in full.
  • LE Pillar Responsibilities: Serve as an active member of the factory LE Pillar and act as the Waste DMS owner, ensuring systematic waste identification, tracking, and elimination.
  • Inventory Governance: Participate in factory‑wide stock counts in partnership with Logistics, Scheduling, and Finance, serving as the lead for all PSA‑related activities.
  • Build Waste‑Reduction Capability: Support and coach teams on waste identification, mapping, and elimination methodologies, strengthening operational excellence capabilities across the factory.
  • Benchmarking & Best Practices: Support benchmarking initiatives and the reapplication of Current Best Approaches (CBAs) to elevate performance.
  • Strategic Execution: Contribute to the development and execution of the Production Engineering department’s 90‑Day Action Plan and lead assigned workstreams within the LE Pillar.

Comply and implement activities in accordance with the rules of laws and regulations relating to environmental protection, safety at work and fire protection, and internal EHS or Sustainability standards and procedures.

What are we looking for?
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong interest in technical processes and manufacturing technology, and a demonstrated, consistent understanding of safety and quality principles.
  • Strong communication skills, with fluency in spoken and written Swedish and English, and confidence in presenting information clearly to groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and manage stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to coach, train, and develop others.
  • Structured, organized, and targetoriented approach to daily work, with the ability to prioritize effectively in situations with competing demands.
  • Demonstrates initiative, challenges the status quo, and actively drives continuous improvement.
  • High degree of personal responsibility, ownership, and accountability for results; service‑minded, adaptable, and flexible in response to changing needs.
  • Acts with an ownership mindset, maintaining strong focus on cost, structure, and order, and is willing to perform additional tasks outside defined responsibilities as required by the line manager.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office and intermediate experience with ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail, including proven ability to interpret and analyze technical data to support decision‑making and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving capability in operational or technical contexts, with familiarity in structured methodologies such as Fishbone (Ishikawa), 5‑Why analysis, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
