Job summary

Airpelago is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and grow our software team across Gothenburg and Stockholm. You will coach engineers, own people development, oversee hiring and onboarding, and help shape the technical strategy.

The role emphasizes fast-moving execution, lightweight processes, and strong collaboration with Product. Swedish and English are required; hands-on coding is a plus, with leadership maturity and technical judgment valued over individual contribution.

Qualifications

Proven experience leading and developing software engineers in an international, fast-growing scale-up.
Strong coaching, listening and communication skills.
Ability to make clear decisions while involving the team closest to the work.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach and develop engineers through effective 1:1s and regular feedback.
Own people management, performance development and team health.
Lead engineering recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning.
Design an organization that scales from today’s team toward 15+ people.
Improve engineering processes, tools and collaboration while keeping them lightweight.
Identify and remove blockers and bottlenecks.
Drive technical strategy with the CTO and senior engineers.
Translate strategic technical decisions into practical plans and execution.
Establish clear ownership across teams, domains and technical leads.
Partner closely with Product on prioritization, planning and delivery.
Strengthen engineering culture and Stockholm office community.
