Job summary

Ascom UMS is seeking a Software Engineer in Gothenburg to join the R&D organization. You will design, develop and maintain embedded software for handsets, infrastructure and alarm devices, in an agile environment focused on quality and maintainability.

You will contribute throughout the software lifecycle from requirements to deployment, work with cross-functional stakeholders and help resolve customer issues, while staying current with new technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Approximately two to five years of experience designing and developing software.
• Experience in object-oriented C++ development for embedded systems.
• Experience with real-time OS, multitasking, and inter-process communication.
• Experience with low-level C/C++ development for drivers and data communication.
• Experience with communication and data security protocols.
• Excellent English skills (spoken and written)
• Fluent in Swedish
• Ability to analyse technical challenges, identify root causes and devise solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Customer-focused mindset and interest in how technology creates value for users.
• Proactive learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Elaborate, design and implement embedded software solutions with focus on reliability, performance.
• Develop embedded software for real-time devices and infrastructure products.
• Design and implement low-level drivers and hardware-near functionality.
• Work with RTOS, multitasking and IPC.
• Develop network communication stacks.
• Contribute to radio communication features and protocols.
• Collaborate with hardware, quality and cross-functional teams.
• Participate in system architecture and design decisions.
