Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking an Electrical Engineer to own the engineering cycle from design review to commissioning on a data centre project. You will ensure the installation on site matches the design and that documentation supports live operation.

The role requires strong analytical skills, experience on major projects, and a disciplined approach to systems engineering. On-site work and collaboration with BIM, vendors and site teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering.
• Experience in electrical engineering on major projects; data centre experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, installation and commissioning.
• Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple technical threads.
• Able to handle pressure without dropping standards.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical designs and call out gaps or inconsistencies.
• Validate cable sizing and ensure physics-based choices.
• Drive technical submittals through approvals without delay.
• Track procurement and verify deliveries against orders.
• Keep the construction programme aligned with progress.
• Coordinate with BIM to ensure buildable installation.
• Collaborate with design teams and vendors to ensure proper operation.
• Carry out electrical system walk-downs for compliance.
• Prepare test packs, FTOPs and O&Ms for approval.
• Manage specialist vendors during commissioning.
• Deliver client training when required.
