Job summary

Curamando is seeking an experienced Data Foundation Expert who will lead data-engineering work and shape the foundation for AI-driven insights. You’ll own workstreams, mentor engineers and collaborate with client leadership on site in Stockholm.

You will design cloud data platforms, define data models and governance, and help clients build effective data teams while advancing an AI-first approach.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building data platforms across multiple clouds.

• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience with data modelling and semantic layers.
• Ability to explain trade-offs to engineers and executives.
• Fluency in Swedish (spoken and written).

Are you an experienced data engineer or architect who knows a data foundation is more than a platform, and enjoys leading others to build one?

At Curamando, you’ll design and deliver data foundations for AI-driven insights and activation. That means the platform, but also the data models, governance, ownership and teams around it. No two organisations need the same foundation, so you’ll fit each one to the client’s size, maturity and goals. We work across industries, with brands like McDonald’s and IKEA.

Data foundations are changing. Clients now want custom reporting apps and AI agents that answer business questions on their own. That puts more weight on strong data models, a semantic layer that gives people and AI the same definitions, and clear rules for what AI can access.

How we work is changing too. We’re quickly becoming AI-first, and you’ll help shape what that means for our team and our clients.

As a Data Foundation Expert, you’ll own workstreams, lead data engineers and work as an equal with client leadership, often on site.

What you’ll do

• Assess a client’s data foundation and set the roadmap with their leadership

• Design and build cost-efficient cloud data platforms, choosing the architecture and tools that fit each client

• Define data models and semantic layers that AI agents and downstream applications can rely on

• Shape governance, ownership, security and access for both people and AI

• Help clients build the data team they need and decide where AI fits in their work

• Lead and mentor data engineers, guide architectural choices and take on the hardest technical problems

• Set standards for orchestration, CI/CD, testing, monitoring and infrastructure as code

• Work AI-first with coding agents, and shape how our team and clients use them, holding AI output to the same standard as their own

• Contribute to proposals, scoping and pitches, and help grow our Data Foundation team and offering

Who you are

We believe you’re a good fit if you:

• Have many years’ experience building data platforms across different clouds and tools, including in a lead or architect role

• Have shaped governance, ownership and team setup in organisations of different sizes

• Have deep experience with data modelling and semantic layers

• Have led and coached data engineers, and enjoy helping people grow

• Still love to build and care about what you ship. Maybe coding agents got you hands‑on again after years in engineering management

• Have strong Python and SQL skills

• Are a clear thinker who turns vague questions into a concrete plan and explains trade‑offs to engineers and executives alike

• Have opinions on how AI is changing data foundations and engineering work, and the experience to back them up

• Communicate fluently in Swedish, both spoken and written

• Are based in Stockholm or open to relocating here

The recruitment process
