Coherent Corp. is seeking a European Capital Procurement Commodity Manager who will source and manage semiconductor capital equipment for Stockholm and Zurich, coordinating across engineering, operations, and finance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level education in SCM/Engineering/Business required; Master’s preferred.
  • 7+ years procurement experience, including 3+ years in semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Knowledge of European semiconductor OEMs, logistics, and CapEx processes.
  • Proficiency in Oracle ERP; strong Excel and MS Project skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration across sites and regions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing and negotiation for capital equipment across deposition, lithography, metrology, process, and automation.
  • Manage relationships with European OEMs and technology partners.
  • Align CapEx strategy with local operations and technology initiatives.
  • Negotiate LTAs and strategic sourcing agreements balancing cost, quality, risk.
  • Ensure EU trade compliance and sustainability objectives.
  • Support project execution from equipment selection to installation and ramp-up.
  • Provide market insights and executive reporting on supplier performance and spend trends.

Job Summary

The European Capital Procurement Commodity Manager is responsible for sourcing and managing semiconductor capital equipment across the company’s European operations, with primary coverage in Stockholm & Zurich. The role focuses on supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and lifecycle cost optimization for major CapEx programs.

This position operates in a highly dynamic, cross-border environment, requiring strong strategic acumen, cultural fluency, and coordination across engineering, operations, and finance. The successful candidate ensures all capital purchases align with site technology roadmaps, global standards, and EU trade compliance.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Lead sourcing and negotiation for capital equipment across deposition, lithography, metrology, process, and automation categories.
  • Manage supplier relationships with key European OEMs and technology partners (e.g., Aixtron, EVG, SPTS, VAT, Edwards, etc.).
  • Collaborate with site and global stakeholders to align CapEx strategy with local operational requirements and technology initiatives.
  • Negotiate and execute LTAs and strategic sourcing agreements that balance cost, quality, and risk.
  • Ensure compliance with EU regulations, trade controls, and sustainability objectives.
  • Support project execution from equipment selection through delivery, installation, and ramp-up.
  • Provide category insights, market analysis, and executive reporting on supplier performance and capital spend trends.
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of procurement experience, including 3+ years in semiconductor capital equipment sourcing.
  • Deep knowledge of European semiconductor OEMs, logistics, and CapEx processes.
  • Proficiency in Oracle ERP systems; Excel and Microsoft Project experience strongly preferred. Strong communication and collaboration skills across sites and regions.
  • Engineering background or strong technical understanding preferred. Knowledge of EU trade and export control regulations.
  • Experience managing large-scale, multi-country CapEx programs.

  • Proven ability to adapt and perform in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment.
  • Willingness to travel across Europe and occasionally to the U.S. (~20-30%) for supplier and site coordination.
