Job summary

Airpelago is building the flight automation software for autonomous drone inspections of power grids. You will join a team developing end-to-end mission planning, execution and monitoring, and you will integrate new drone platforms and payloads into our system.

You will work close to hardware, data, and operators in production, with field testing and hands-on experimentation. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and ownership in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Experience integrating hardware and software – drones, cameras, sensors or robotics – is a strong advantage.
• Comfort with SDKs, APIs and vendor documentation of varying quality.
• Willingness to field test with real aircraft and travel as needed.
• Structured approach to testing and safety in systems with physical consequences.
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of a technical domain.
• Full proficiency in Swedish and English, both written and verbal.
• Valid B driver’s license; comfortable outdoors and traveling for field testing.
• Experience with camera geometry is a strong plus: projections, calibration, coordinate transforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain flight automation software from mission planning to in-flight execution.
• Integrate new drone platforms, flight controllers and payloads into our system.
• Work with manufacturer SDKs and APIs and evaluate hardware for technical fit.
• Build tooling and abstractions to support multiple drone platforms without duplication of work.
• Test and validate work in the field with operations and testing engineers.
• Debug cross software/hardware issues: logs, telemetry, radio links, sensors.
• Contribute to architecture, safety and reliability decisions for autonomous flight.
• Take ownership of your domain end to end, from idea to production.
