Job summary

Telia Play is seeking an Android Developer to join our team in Göteborg. You will build and maintain Telia Play for Android devices, with a strong focus on Android TV, delivering high-quality experiences to millions of users across the Nordics.

You will work with designers and backend developers, implement modern architectural patterns, and use Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Firebase, and GraphQL to ship reliable, scalable apps.

Qualifications

What you’ll do

• Develop, enhance, and maintain Telia Play for Android devices, with a strong focus on Android TV.
• Design and optimize applications for performance, scalability, automation, and smooth release flows.
• Collaborate closely within a cross‑functional team, working with designers and backend developers to implement modern architectural patterns and coding standards.
• Build with a modern Kotlin‑based tech stack using Jetpack Compose, our design system, Firebase, and GraphQL.
• Create exceptional user experiences that delight and engage our customers.

What will help you thrive in this role

We’re looking for someone with strong experience in building scalable, high‑quality applications for Android TV platforms.

• Solid proficiency in Kotlin and Compose, with a proven ability to design and implement advanced architectural patterns and performance optimization techniques.
• Eager to drive automation and shape a smooth release process, ensuring high‑quality delivery aligned with engineering best practices.
• Experience building widely used consumer apps with GraphQL and adaptive streaming protocols such as DASH and HLS is a plus.
• Skilled in managing Git workflows, ensuring code quality, and maintaining high test coverage.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and thrive in collaborative environments.
• Bonus: experience with TV‑specific hardware features such as remote controls, voice interaction, or Android accessibility tools like TalkBack.
