Job summary

Alfanar Projects is seeking a Senior Welding Supervisor to lead field welding operations across high-pressure piping and heavy structural steel installations. You will ensure all welding activities meet project specs and international codes, while coordinating field crews and QC inspections.

You will oversee welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, FCAW), enforce safety, monitor welder productivity, and resolve technical challenges on site with a strong focus on quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Diploma or vocational training in industrial welding technology.
• 8–12+ years of industrial welding experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role on major Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Power projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily field welding operations, allocating manpower, equipment, and consumables to maintain project timelines.
• Supervise GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), and FCAW processes across carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials.
• Monitor welder productivity, fit-up accuracy, and joint preparation before final welding.
• Conduct toolbox talks, enforce site safety protocols, and oversee compliance with Hot Work Permits and gas-testing procedures.
• Coordinate with QC inspectors and NDT technicians to schedule radiography, ultrasonic, and dye-penetrant testing.

The Senior Welding Supervisor leads field welding operations across high-pressure piping, cross-country pipelines, and heavy structural steel installations. This role ensures all welding activities strictly adhere to project specifications, international welding codes and client safety regulations. The supervisor manages field crews, coordinates quality control inspections, monitors welder productivity, and resolves technical challenges on site.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Crew Leadership

• Direct daily field welding operations, allocating manpower, equipment, and consumables to maintain project timelines.
• Supervise GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), and FCAW processes across carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials.
• Monitor welder productivity, fit-up accuracy, and joint preparation before final welding.
• Conduct toolbox talks, enforce site safety protocols, and oversee compliance with Hot Work Permits and gas-testing procedures.

Quality Control & Technical Compliance

• Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and ensure welders adhere strictly to qualified parameters.
• Verify Welder Performance Qualification Records (WPQR) and organize field coupon tests for new welders.
• Coordinate with QC inspectors and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) technicians to schedule radiography, ultrasonic, and dye-penetrant testing.
• Identify weld defects (e.g., porosity, undercut, lack of penetration), root causes, and supervise corrective repairs.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education:

Diploma or vocational training in industrial welding technology.

Experience:

8–12+ years of industrial welding experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role on major Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Power projects.

Certifications:

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 (Preferred).
• OSH Academy, OSHA 30-Hour, or equivalent site safety credentials.
• Saudi Aramco approval (SAP ID / CBT passed) or experience with international Tier-1 contractors (e.g., Petrojet, Tecnimont, Siemens, Schlumberger) is a strong advantage.
