Job summary

BUPA Arabia in Riyadh seeks a Neurology Technician to support neurologists in diagnosing and treating patients with neurological disorders. The role requires specialized neurology knowledge, technical skill, and compassionate patient care.

You will conduct and assist with EEGs, nerve conduction studies, EMG, and autonomic testing, prepare patients, explain procedures, and ensure comfort and cooperation. Collaborative teamwork and precise EMR documentation are essential to success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic tests, perform and assist with various neurological tests and procedures such as EEG, nerve conduction studies, EMG, and autonomic testing.
• Prepare patients for neurological tests, explain procedures, and provide instructions to ensure comfort and cooperation during the tests.
• Assist during procedures: provide support to neurologists during diagnostic procedures, help with patient positioning, equipment setup, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth flow of patient care.
• Assess patient education needs and interact with staff to facilitate requirements.
• Educate patients and families about neurological conditions, diagnostic tests, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications as prescribed by the neurologist.
• Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families during challenging times.
• Ensure patients understand discharge instructions and follow-up care.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure seamless transitions of care and optimal patient outcomes.
• Record and document results: accurately record test results, patient information, and other data in EMR systems for review by healthcare providers.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding patient documentation.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Maintain neurology equipment: ensure equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and ready for use, following guidelines and safety protocols.
• Adhere to infection control protocols to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
• Implement safety measures to protect patients, staff, and visitors from accidents and injuries.
• Identify and address potential safety hazards in the healthcare environment.
• Identify and report defective or broken equipment, safety hazards and environmental hazards.
• Stay informed about advancements in neurology technology, diagnostic techniques, and treatment options through ongoing training and professional development.
• Seek opportunities for professional growth through workshops, seminars, and certifications.
• Demonstrates and maintains competence in all mandatory competencies.
• Maintain current licensure and certifications required for the position.
• Ensure compliance by adhering to all relevant regulations, protocols, and safety standards; participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to patient complaints and concerns; engage with appropriate channels if unresolved.
• Assist the Head Nurse of the unit by undertaking any other work-related responsibility.

Patient Education and Support
