Job summary

Dallah Health's ER nursing role seeks a qualified Staff Nurse to deliver high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department of Dallah Hospital. The nurse will assess patient needs, support physicians, and ensure adherence to clinical standards and professional development.

The post holder will triage, assist in exams and treatments, manage wounds, monitor patients, and prepare for investigations while maintaining equipment and ensuring safety and infection control.

Qualifications

• Must hold BSN / RN and be registered to practice nursing.
• Experience in emergency or trauma care preferred.
• English language proficiency required for clinical communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform triage and determine priority of care for ER patients.
• Assist physicians during examinations, tests, and treatments.
• Provide basic bedside care and wound management.
• Assist in procedures such as intubation, chest tube insertion, and catheterization.
• Prepare patients for investigations and collect samples for tests.
• Maintain equipment, medications, and documentation according to policy.

Job description

The staff nurse is accountable to the Emergency Room Charge Nurse for the delivery of high quality care of the patients at Dallah Hospital The post holder is responsible for ensuring attainment of agreed clinical standards and professional development supported by colleagues and the Director of Nursing During the time period for which she is responsible assesses the overall needs of the individual patients assists in preparation and implements the nursing care process as indicated to ensure optimal patient care

Day-to-day activities

• Triage each patient and determines priority of care based on Physical psychological and social needs as well as factors influencing patient flow through the emergency care system
• Works directly under physicians assisting them during exam diagnostic testing and treatments
• Cleans and bandages wounds
• Provides basic bedside care
• Assist in various procedures like Intubation Chest Tube Insertion Foley Catheter Insertion and etc
• Prepare the patient for various investigations like X-ray Ultrasound MRI and etc
• Collection of samples evaluate and record the results
• Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner
• Maintains proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for patients

Additional activities for Male nurses

• Maintains familiarity with specialized equipment used by the service
• Use special equipment such as backboards to immobilize patients before placing them in a ambulance for transport to medical facility
• After ambulance used to restocks and replaced used supplied and check equipments
• Cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures
• males careful check of all equipment so that the ambulance is ready for the next run
• Lifts stretcher placing in ambulance and seeing that the patient and stretcher are secured
• continues emergency medical care
• Transport patient when necessary
• Maintains continuity of care during take-over and handover reports ensuring that the communication is clear and accurate at all times
• Ensures that doctors orders and patient management plans are followed and that appropriate steps are taken including immediate notification of the doctors of any deterioration from the expected course of the patient s condition
• Ensures that the appropriate records of the patients progress are maintained according to the hospital policies and procedures
• Ensure the safety of the patient relatives and staff Reporting untoward incident accident staff sickness to the Sister Charge Nurse
• Maintain current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age and patient clinical conditions
• Calculate prepare monitor discontinue fluids and medication drips Reports adverse reaction to medications
• Take an active role in the prevention and control of infection Reports adverse reaction to medication
• Contribute to the induction of new staff acting as a mentor when appropriate

• Ensures that the record of all drugs IV fluids etc is up-to-date as required by the Pharmacy and ensures that the rules and regulations governing the storage and custody of scheduled drugs and narcotics are strictly observed at all times
• Maintain skill and knowledge in using various medical devices such as ECG machine Defibrillator Infusion and Syringe Pump CTG machine Electronic fetal monitors Gynae instruments and other life saving equipment
• Maintain skills and knowledge by participating various nursing education programs in-service training nursing symposium workshops amp etc
• Ensure that the necessary financial records are maintained for the Finance Department

Staff should be competent as follows

• To be able to assess and manage diabetic emergencies
• To be able to assess and provide care to patient with burn
• To provide emergency care of injured patient with bleeding
• To provide guidelines in implementing the TRIAGE process
• To provide care for patients with shock
• To be able to assess and provide emergency care for patient with Head trauma
• To be able to assist and provides care to the patient with Chest drains Chest tubes
• To be able to assist and provides care for a patient requiring defibrillation cardioversion
• Provides care to the critically ill adult infant pediatric
• Provides care for the patient receiving thrombolytic therapy
• To be able to assess and manage according to the types of wound
• Provide age related physiological care and psycho social support during a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure-moderate and deep
• To know the urgency in performing the procedure and properly assist in systematic manner
• Calculates dosages and administers medications for patients in Pediatric Emergency
• To be able to managed abortion in correct manner
• Ability to assess the fetal heart rate patterns by using CTG Cardiotocogram Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well informed care decisions

Job incumbents may be required to perform additional job-related tasks and duties as assigned Two years post-basic experience, six months of which must be in the specialtyPrevious experience in Middle Eastern healthcare.Good command of English LanguageAppropriate qualification and statutory nursing registration in the country from where recruited.BSN / RN.Post-basic course qualification in the specialty.Valid BLS, ACLS, BLSO, PALS certificate.
