Job summary

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Cardiology Technician to support the cardiology department in diagnosing and caring for patients with cardiovascular conditions. You will perform and assist with ECGs, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and echocardiograms under a cardiologist's supervision, while preparing patients and collecting medical history.

You will collaborate with physicians and nurses, document results in EMR, maintain equipment, comply with infection control, and participate in ongoing education

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification or associate degree in cardiovascular technology or related field preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in cardiology or a related field.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and common cardiac conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technology.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs and environments.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • BLS certification; ACLS certification as needed.
  • Service mindset.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and assist with cardiac diagnostic tests such as ECG, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and echocardiograms under cardiologist supervision.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, explain the process, collect medical history to aid diagnosis.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to support procedures and ensure smooth patient care.

  • Maintain cardiology equipment, follow infection control protocols, and address safety hazards.

Job Description

The Cardiology Technician plays a crucial role in assisting healthcare professionals in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with cardiovascular conditions . This position requires a combination of technical skills, medical knowledge, and patient care expertise to ensure the efficient operation of the cardiology department.

  • Perform diagnostic tests: Conduct and assist with a variety of cardiac diagnostic tests such as electrocardiograms (ECG), stress tests, Holter monitoring, and echocardiograms under the supervision of a cardiologist or other healthcare provider.
  • Prepare patients: Properly prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process, ensuring their comfort, and obtaining relevant medical history to assist in accurate diagnosis.

Patient Care

  • Assesses patient educational and needs and interacts with relevant staff and departments to facilitate requirement.
  • Educate patients: Provide patients with information on cardiovascular conditions, diagnostic procedures, and lifestyle changes to improve heart health.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families during challenging times.
  • Ensure patients understand discharge instructions and follow-up care.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, Nurses, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure seamless transitions of care and optimal patient outcomes.
Documentation and Record Keeping
  • Record and document results: Accurately record test results, patient information, and other relevant data in electronic medical records (EMR) systems for review by healthcare providers.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding patient documentation.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all time
Safety and Infection Control
  • Maintain equipment: Ensure that all cardiology equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning correctly to produce accurate test results
  • Adhere to strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Implement safety measures to protect patients, staff, and visitors from accidents and injuries.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards in the healthcare environment.
  • Identifies and reports defective or broken equipment, safety hazards and environmental hazards.
Professional Development
  • Participate in ongoing training: Stay current with advances in cardiology technology, procedures, and best practices through continuous education and training opportunities.
  • Seek opportunities for professional growth and skill development through workshops, seminars, and certifications.
  • Demonstrates and maintains competence in all mandatory competencies.
  • Maintain current licensure and certifications required for the position.
Quality Improvement and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance: Adhere to all relevant regulations, protocols, and safety standards to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient complaints and concerns. Initiates the nursing of administrative chain of command if unable to resolve patient issues
  • Assists the Head Nurse of the unit by willing acceptance of any other work-related responsibility.
  • Other duties assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.
Skills
