Job description
Responsibilities
  • Performs inspections, repairs, and replacement of aircraft structural components to include stringers, longerons, bulkheads, beams and aircraft skin according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures.
  • Fabricates structural parts and forming blocks.
  • Shapes metal using stretching, shrinking, and other metal forming techniques.
  • Mixes and applies fiberglass materials.
  • Makes unscheduled emergency and permanent repairs to transparent plastic windows and enclosures.
  • Uses the following: common measuring tools, precision measuring gages and alignment fixtures to perform structural repairs.
  • Mixes and applies primers and paints to aircraft surfaces.
  • Applies corrosion control treatment to aircraft metals.
  • Requisitions and maintains shop and bench stock items for repair of aircraft structures.
  • Uses and performs operator maintenance on common special tools.
  • Prepares, reviews, and updates aircraft maintenance forms and records.
  • Provides On-the-Job Training (OJT), coaching, and mentoring to RSLFAC personnel in all aspects of aircraft sheetmetal tasks as necessary.
  • Ensures that all related maintenance operations are conducted in a safe manner.
  • Other tasks as directed by the Maintenance Lead.
  • Independence: Performs within the broad guidelines of duties and responsibilities within the parameters of his supervisor’s direction.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Qualifications
  • Eight (8) years’ total experience and two (2) within the last five (5) years as an aircraft sheetmetal technician.
  • Successfully completed and be qualified by the appropriate U.S. Government armed forces Sheetmetal Technician course or civilian equivalent training.
  • Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms or similar aviation maintenance management system, and other aircraft related documentation.
  • Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Possess a valid state or Government issued driver’s license.
  • Successfully pass an overseas deployment physical upon hire.
  • US Citizenship required.
