Job summary

emagine seeks a senior software engineering leader to build in-house digital products and AI-powered applications on Google Cloud Platform. You will design, develop, and deploy enterprise apps and APIs, while guiding a team and migrating vendor-developed solutions to internal ownership.

You will collaborate with AI engineers, data scientists, and business teams to deliver scalable, secure, production-grade software while establishing standards and accelerators.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on software development experience with production applications.
• Strong Python backend experience with FastAPI or Django.
• Frontend experience with React/TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Deep understanding of REST APIs, databases, and security.
• GCP experience including Cloud Run, Build, Storage, and related services.
• Experience with Git, Docker, CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment.
• Ability to design, troubleshoot, and own production-grade applications.
• Experience reviewing external code and migrating vendor solutions.

Summary:

The position serves as a key role in building internal software engineering capabilities, transitioning from vendor-led development to in-house digital products, with a focus on AI-powered applications.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications, digital products, APIs, and backend services.
• Build end-to-end applications, including backend, frontend, database, and system integrations.
• Develop and integrate AI-powered capabilities, including LLM applications, AI agents, and intelligent automation.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, production-ready solutions.
• Support digital product development across trading, risk management, operations, finance, and corporate functions.
• Review, assess, and take ownership of source code and applications developed by external vendors.
• Lead technical knowledge transfer, code handovers, and transition of vendor-developed solutions to internal ownership.
• Evaluate code quality, architecture, security, maintainability, and technical documentation.
• Establish reusable components, development standards, and engineering practices to reduce long-term reliance on external vendors.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, version control, automated testing, and release processes.
• Manage application deployments across development, testing, and production environments.
• Implement application monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with the existing GCP administrator on cloud infrastructure, security, access management, and deployment environments.
• Help establish internal software development practices, coding standards, documentation, and technical architecture.
• Contribute to technology selection, engineering frameworks, and reusable development accelerators.
• Support the evolution of internal software engineering capabilities, including onboarding and mentoring future developers.
• Work closely with AI engineers, data scientists, product owners, business teams, and third-party vendors to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on software development experience, including experience delivering production applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python and backend development frameworks such as FastAPI or Django.
• Experience in frontend development using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, or equivalent technologies.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, REST APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), application integration, and security.
• Hands-on experience with GCP services, particularly Cloud Run, Cloud Build, Cloud Storage, and related application development services.
• Experience with Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and application deployment.
• Demonstrated ability to independently design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain production-grade applications.
• Experience working with third-party developers, reviewing code, or taking ownership of externally developed software.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Vertex AI, Gemini APIs, LLM applications, RAG architectures, and AI agents.
• Familiarity with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with data engineering, enterprise integrations, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native microservices.
• Exposure to commodity trading, energy markets, financial services, or enterprise trading and risk management systems.
• Experience building engineering capabilities, defining development standards, or mentoring junior developers.
