Overview
The Facility & Safety Manager oversees all aspects of facility operations, safety, and regulatory compliance to ensure a safe, functional, efficient, and patient-centered environment. The role ensures readiness for accreditation (CBAHI / JCIA), supports clinical operations, manages preventive maintenance, and leads safety programs across the facility.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop FM Strategy & Policies
- Develop FM policies, procedures, and strategic plans aligned with ISO 41001, MOH and CBAHI
- Facility Management
- Oversee daily facility operations, engineering services, and building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire systems).
- Lead preventive and corrective maintenance plans for all equipment and infrastructure.
- Ensure safe, timely response to facility issues that may impact patient care.
- Develop and implement annual facility operational plans and budgets.
- Supervise housekeeping, waste management, laundry, concierge, and outsourced support services.
- Coordinate with vendors for repairs, service contracts, and facility enhancements.
- Ensure facility layout supports optimized patient flow and safety.
- Vendor & Contract Management & Operational Leadership
- Ensure implementation of SLAs for maintenance, housekeeping and security contracts and monitor performance.
- Safety & Risk Management
- Lead healthcare safety programs and maintain full compliance with CBAHI, JCIA, MOH, Civil Défense, and NFPA standards.
- Chair or co-chair Environment of Care (EOC) and Safety Committees.
- Conduct regular safety rounds and risk assessments.
- Ensure fire safety systems, emergency exits, and evacuation routes meet regulatory standards.
- Manage hazardous materials, waste disposal processes, and chemical storage.
- Develop incident reporting processes related to facility & safety risks.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for facility-related incidents.
- Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and maintain the facility’s Emergency Response & Disaster Preparedness Plan.
- Lead drills (fire, code red, mass casualty, disaster drills) in collaboration with clinical leadership.
- Ensure readiness of backup power, alarms, communication systems, and emergency supplies.
- Coordinate with Civil Defence, local authorities, and MOH for emergency compliance.
- Compliance & Accreditation
- Maintain all licenses, permits, and certifications related to facility operations.
- Ensure compliance with CBAHI safety and facility management standards and JCIA Environment of Care.
