Job summary

astek middle east is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer to manage a complex hybrid infrastructure spanning servers, virtualization, networking, cloud platforms and security controls. The role requires independent troubleshooting, gap assessment and practical improvements to enhance availability, performance and security.

Candidates with 9+ years of experience may be considered for Lead Infrastructure Operations Engineer level, including ownership of roadmaps and standards.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support physical and virtual Windows and/or Linux server environments, virtualization, storage and backup infrastructure.
• Operate and maintain hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure, ensuring availability, performance and capacity.
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot enterprise networks, including switches, access points, VLANs, routing and wireless connectivity.
• Support firewalls, load balancers, VPNs and network-security solutions.
• Provide advanced operational support for Cisco ISE, CCTV and related on-premises infrastructure.
• Monitor infrastructure health and resolve performance, availability and security issues.
• Lead the resolution of complex infrastructure incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
• Implement infrastructure hardening, cybersecurity controls, vulnerability remediation and patching requirements.
• Assess existing infrastructure and identify gaps in operations, networking and security.
• Recommend improvements to enhance availability, resilience, performance and security.
• Maintain infrastructure diagrams, configuration records, SOPs and recovery documentation.
• Support backup, restoration, business continuity and disaster recovery activities.
• Coordinate with cloud providers, telecom providers and technology vendors.
• Participate in infrastructure projects and technical change-management activities.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to internal teams.

The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify operational and security gaps, and recommend practical improvements to enhance infrastructure availability, performance, resilience and security.

Candidates with 9+ years of experience and demonstrated technical leadership, infrastructure ownership and roadmap/standards experience may also be considered for the Lead Infrastructure Operations Engineer level.

• Strong Windows and/or Linux administration and virtualization experience.
• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching and wireless networks.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls, load balancers, VPNs and network-security solutions.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS or equivalent cloud platforms.
• Experience implementing cybersecurity, hardening, vulnerability remediation and compliance requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting, incident management and root-cause analysis capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple operational priorities.
• Strong documentation, stakeholder-management and communication skills.
• Good command of English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, AWS, Azure or cybersecurity certification.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco ISE and CCTV infrastructure.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring, backup and disaster-recovery solutions.
• ITIL certification or strong knowledge of IT service-management practices.
• Experience supporting government, critical infrastructure or large enterprise environments.
• For Lead-level consideration: experience acting as a technical escalation point, leading major incidents, defining infrastructure standards or roadmaps, and driving infrastructure improvement initiatives.
