Job summary

ABB is seeking a Field Service Engineer in Saudi Arabia to lead installation, commissioning, servicing and retrofitting of ABB drives (LV & MV). You will assess customer requirements, size drives, configure software, and report on performance and warranty issues.

Travel to remote sites and delivering root-cause analyses are expected. Fluency in English and an Electrical/Electronics background are required, with 5–10 years of hands-on experience in drive systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/ Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 5 to 10 years experience in installation, testing, commissioning and servicing of LV and MV drives.
• Fluent in English is required.

Responsibilities

• Checking installation and commissioning of newly installed LV ABB Drives for ongoing projects and reporting to customer, ABB installed base and service manager.
• Servicing faulty ABB medium voltage and low drives, ordering and replacing faulty parts, reporting warranty cases to manufacturer.
• Performing preventive maintenance of ABB drives and MV drives.
• Sizing and selecting LV & MV ABB drives and configuring them per customer application and control scheme.
• Engineering system interface for drives upgrades and retrofitting projects and for new installed drives projects.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis for customer failure.
• Testing, commissioning and troubleshooting MV variable frequency drives; certified on ABB products.
• Willingness to travel to remote sites for extended periods.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Checking the installation & Commissioning of the New installed LV ABB Drives (ACS880, ACS580, ACS800, (ACS800, ACS550, ACSM1, DCS500, ACS350, (ACS1000, ACS2000, ACS5000, ACS6000, ACS680, ACS8080, ACS580 MV, ACS800, ACS550, ACSM1, DCS500, ACS350…etc.), for the ongoing industrial projects area and reporting the com- missioning Works to the Customer, ABB installed base and service manager.
• Servicing the Faulty ABB medium Voltage and Low Drives (ACS1000, ACS2000, ACS5000, ACS6000, ACS680, ACS8080, ACS580 MV, ACS800, ACS800, ACS550, ACSM1, DCS500, ACS350…etc.), Ordering & replacing the faulty parts (boards , IGBTS ,Thyristors ….etc.) and reporting the warranty Cases to the manufacturer.
• performing the preventive maintenance of Different types of ABB Drives (ACS1000, ACS2000, ACS6000, ACS500, ACS880, ACS800, ACS550 …etc.) and MV Drives
• Sizing, Selecting the LV & MV ABB drives as well as their options ( S/W ) based on Customer’s machine and installation requirements & Configuring them based on Customer application and Control scheme Using ABB software (Drive window , Drive window light , Drive studio Drive Size).
• Reporting the customer satisfaction level, claims, recommendation and technical issues regarding ABB drives to the BU management. Contribute Effectively in promoting the ABB product and boosting the sales of ABB drives .
• Engineering the System Interface for the Drives Upgrade and Retrofitting Projects as well as for the New installed Drives Project .
• Ability to Do Root Cause analysis for Customer Failure
• Testing , Commissioning and Troubleshooting the Medium Voltage Variable frequency Drives , ( Experienced , Certified on ABB Product (Medium Voltage Variable frequency Drives, ACS6000, ACS1000, ACS2000, ACS5000, ACS580 MV, ACS6080).
• Ability to Work under pressure and to ability to Travel to and work in Remote sites for long time.
• Certified as per ABB Motion Upskills on Products (ACS1000, ACS2000, ACS5000, ACS6000, ACS6080, ACS580 MV).
• Expert in ACS500 PLC Troubleshooting.
• Employee shall also carry out any tasks that are assigned by management necessary to fulfil the job requirements.
